BIO
Alexander Mansour (aka Alexei) is a Philadelphia based artist. He graduated from Tyler School of Art with a BFA in Painting and Art History minor in 2013 and is a former member of the artist collective New Boone. He grew up with a strong sense of cultural and religious traditions from his Middle Eastern heritage and the Antiochian Orthodox Church. Influenced by the rich traditions of his cultural upbringing , and his struggle with his queer identity, he has centered his work around these subjects and its multiplicity. Alexander was a member of the artist collective and gallery New Boone for 5 years helping operations and managing events as well as producing a series of community lectures and panel discussions. Alexander continues to work professionally as a photographer and makes paintings in his studio in north Philadelphia.
